I really want to ride my bicycle

I am only now just realizing that my choice to travel by bike will interfere with my warm-weather skirt wearing.

Riding side saddle is not an option.

I need some ideas on how I will balance both mobility and propriety with fashion. Suggestions?

If you're biking 2 hours often, I would invest in a pair of biking shorts or underwear. Any sort of consistent, lengthy biking can eventually cause some damage regardless of the seat you have.

Not sure what you could do about the skirt thing...

Laura, I'm going through the same dilemma in Fredericton! I've thought of taking a skirt with me, but that seems like too much effort - then you have to factor in shoes/sandals, etc. Essentially, I don't have any solution to offer, but I empathize. Tis a sad state of affairs indeed, when a girl can't wear a pretty skirt.

if you invest in shorts then its a matter of taking a skirt in a bag to change wherever you are heading. don't let fashion get in the way of biking.. its just not worth it. plus you only have so many days of good biking weather left!!

Thanks for the suggestions! I survived Sunday with a combined biking/church outfit (yay for formal shorts!) but I worry most things will wrinkle in a bag. Jaimi, you're right, pretty soon we won't have the weather for biking, OR shorts. Until then, perhaps I will have to invest in some shorts-but first I'll check with the expert (um, hi, Dad?)

Okay...well, in Halifax, they do ride bicycles with skirts on...but then again, I always question the line of thinking that went into this decision. You could wear tights with your skirt, as is apparently fashionable now, though I am not sure if it's the "look" you want...FYI, my roommate went to fashion school in LONDON, ENGLAND!!! Maybe she'll rub off on me?!?

Yes, but the question is, what does SHE wear on a bike?
